Ginger Reaches 100 Operating Hotels, Strengthening Leadership in India’s Mid-Scale Segment

IHCL’s lean luxe brand crosses a major milestone with a portfolio of 250 hotels and an aggressive expansion pipeline.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced that its mid-scale brand, Ginger, has achieved a significant milestone by reaching 100 operating hotels across India, becoming the first hotel brand in the country to attain this scale in the segment. The achievement underscores the growing demand for quality accommodation in India’s rapidly expanding mid-scale hospitality market.

The milestone marks an important step in Ginger’s growth journey under IHCL’s Accelerate 2030 strategy. The brand has evolved from a budget accommodation provider into what it describes as a “lean luxe” offering, catering to the needs of today’s business and leisure travellers through contemporary design, efficient layouts and enhanced guest experiences.

Ginger’s total portfolio now stands at 250 hotels, comprising 100 operational properties, 95 hotels under development, and 55 hotels currently undergoing brand migration, all of which are expected to be rebranded by March 31, 2027.

Commenting on the milestone, Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President, Select Service Business, IHCL, said the growth reflects the increasing demand for mid-scale hospitality across both established and emerging markets. She noted that Ginger has continually adapted its offerings to align with evolving traveller expectations while maintaining its pioneering position in the segment.

As part of its expansion plans, the brand is strengthening its presence at major transportation and travel hubs across the country. Upcoming projects include a 325-key hotel at Bengaluru International Airport, a 300-key property at Manohar International Airport in Goa, a hotel with more than 200 rooms at Mumbai Terminal 2, and a 200-key hotel at Kolkata Airport.

According to Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President, Real Estate & Development, IHCL, Ginger continues to serve as a key growth engine for the company. She highlighted the brand’s scalable operating model, strong margins and ability to expand across a wide range of markets through operating leases, selective investments and strategic partnerships.

With a growing national presence and a robust pipeline, Ginger’s latest milestone reinforces its position as one of India’s most rapidly expanding hospitality brands and a significant contributor to IHCL’s long-term growth strategy.
