India’s largest hospitality company moves closer to its Accelerate 2030 goal, adding 47 signings and 20 hotel openings in the first half of FY2027.
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has reported strong expansion momentum in the first half of FY2027, signing 47 hotels and opening 20 new properties, taking its global portfolio to 670 hotels, including 280 hotels in the pipeline. The performance places the company firmly on track to achieve its Accelerate 2030 target of a 700-hotel portfolio ahead of schedule.
The country’s largest hospitality company now operates 390 hotels across four continents, 15 countries and more than 300 destinations, reinforcing its position as one of the most expansive hotel operators in the region.
According to Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President, Real Estate & Development, IHCL, the company’s growth has been driven by a diversified strategy spanning brands, markets and contract structures. She noted that the mix of capital-heavy owned assets and capital-light management and franchise agreements has enabled IHCL to build a scalable and resilient hospitality platform while maintaining profitable growth.
The signings recorded during the first half demonstrate the breadth of IHCL’s multi-brand strategy. In the luxury segment, the company signed four Taj hotels along with one Brij property and one Atmantan property. Meanwhile, the midscale segment continued to drive scale, with 19 signings across the Ginger and Tree of Life brands.
The company’s expansion was equally evident in its operational footprint. New openings strengthened IHCL’s presence in key lodging markets including Mumbai, Gurugram, Goa and Hyderabad, while also extending the company’s reach into emerging destinations such as Kandla, Ayodhya, Tadoba, Kota, Bokaro and Jorhat.
Beyond India, IHCL continued its international growth strategy. During the period, the company expanded the footprint of its flagship Taj brand through new hotel openings in Frankfurt, Germany, and Kruger, South Africa, further enhancing its global presence.
The performance reflects the growing strength of the company’s diversified portfolio of ten hospitality brands, which spans luxury, upscale, midscale and experiential segments. As of September 30, 2026, Ginger remained the group’s largest brand with a portfolio of 254 hotels, including operational and pipeline properties, followed by Taj with 151 hotels. Other growth brands include Gateway, Vivanta, SeleQtions, Brij and Tree of Life.
The expansion comes against the backdrop of robust demand in the hospitality sector. According to Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, demand growth continues to outpace supply additions across the industry, supporting strong room rates and occupancy levels. The company expects growth in the second half of FY2027 to be supported by festivals, weddings, business travel and continued domestic and international expansion.
With 670 hotels already secured and a substantial pipeline under development, IHCL appears increasingly likely to surpass its Accelerate 2030 milestone ahead of schedule, further consolidating its leadership position in India’s rapidly growing hospitality market.
