Quality New Zealand (QNZ) has appointed Dr. Nitin Shankar Nagrale as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, ushering in a new chapter of growth as the company looks to expand its international footprint and capitalize on opportunities created by the recently signed India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Dr. Nagrale becomes only the second Group CEO in QNZ’s history after more than 14 years with the organization. As the company’s first employee, he has played a key role in building QNZ from its early stages into a diversified international enterprise spanning education, food exports, agribusiness, innovation, workforce development and international trade.

The appointment follows a planned leadership succession process aimed at ensuring continuity while positioning QNZ for accelerated growth in strategic global markets, particularly India.

As part of the transition, Nettles Lamont will assume an expanded role as Executive Chair, bringing more than seven years of board leadership and governance expertise. Geoff Allott will step back from his Executive Director responsibilities but will continue to serve on the QNZ Board. The company confirmed there are no changes to its governance framework or shareholding structure.

“QNZ is in a strong position, supported by a successful recent capital raise and the positive opportunities emerging from the India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement,” said Geoff Allott. “Nitin has been central to the development and success of the business and is exceptionally well positioned to lead the company into its next phase of growth.”

Executive Chair Nettles Lamont said the FTA creates transformational opportunities in India, enabling QNZ to connect New Zealand innovation, products and expertise with one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

Accepting the role, Dr. Nagrale said: “The India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement opens a new chapter of opportunity. I look forward to accelerating innovation, expanding our global footprint and creating long-term value for our shareholders and customers.”

Under its new leadership structure, QNZ will continue strengthening trade and business connections between New Zealand and high-growth global markets.
